Writing is about more than being able to produce grammatical, properly punctuated and correctly spelled text.
It needs to be clear, concise and as jargon-free as possible. You may be able to understand other people in your industry, but your customers and clients may not and there's nothing more off-putting than reading a piece loaded with incomprehensible acronyms and abbreviations.
Also, a skilled writer should be aware of the target audience - and construct text in a style that will resonate with them - and that's even more important for marketing via websites and e-newsletters.
